Fabricio M. Lopes received a PhD degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil, in 2011. His Ph.D. thesis received an honorable mention from the USP Thesis Award 2011. He is a full professor in the Computer Science Department at the Federal University of Technology - Paraná (UTFPR), Brazil. His main research topics are computational biology and pattern recognition, including but not limited to gene network identification data integration and complex network analysis.
