Claudio Martínez holds a PhD in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Genetics from the University of Chile. At the Universidad de Santiago de Chile, he has developed a strong research line in the genetics and biotechnology of industrial yeasts, using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model organism to identify genes relevant to fermentative processes and to develop new strains through classical and molecular breeding.
He has led and participated in research projects and published extensively in indexed journals in genetics and biotechnology. His research has resulted in patent applications and technological products transferred to the market. He currently serves as Director of the Center for Studies in Food Science and Technology (CECTA) at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile.
